Nfl Tickets - The Biggest Fantasy Movers After Week One

Things can change a lot in a week

Things can change a lot in a week. Before the start of the regular season, Ryan Grant and Shonn Greene were studs, Matthew Stafford was a flyer to have on your bench and Eddie Royal was persona non grata on fantasy rosters all over the country. Though just as much can change after Week Two, as well, here are the players whose upside appears to be better than originally anticipated.

Brandon Jackson, Running Back, Green Bay Packers:

When Ryan Grant went down with a season-ending ankle injury, Brandon Jackson suddenly became the holiest of holies on the waiver wire. Jackson is virtually guaranteed to get a bulk of the work and steps into a very good situation on one of the most explosive teams in the league. True, the Packers' passing game is what makes them special, but the Packers still know how to pound the ball into the endzone after Rodgers gets the team down the field. After all, Grant had 1,200 yards each of the last two seasons and had 11 rushing touchdowns in 2009; Jackson could see similar numbers. If he stays healthy, Jackson could potentially put up first-round caliber numbers.

David Garrard, Quarterback, Jacksonville Jaguars:

After a mediocre 2009 season, Garrard wasn't exactly the guy fantasy gurus were circling on their cheat sheets. In a run-first offense, Garrard simply didn't appear to have the upside to even be on a roster, let alone a fantasy starter. In Week One, however, Garrard tossed three touchdowns, no picks and completed more than 75% of his passes. Garrard still isn't the type of player you'll want to slide into your starting slot unless you're really weak at QB, but he also could be a very reliable backup if he proves he can play similar to how he did in 2007.

Vince Young, Quarterback, Tennessee Titans:

Young's ability to run for consistent yardage has always made him a decent backup when he actually plays, which is something he will always have the ability to do. What's impressive now is that Young seems to be making legitimate strides as a passer. Though he doesn't have the type of arm strength and mechanics to get the ball down the field with consistency, Young is getting better at taking care of the ball and can burn a secondary if they cheat too much to stop the run. As long as the Titans keep his passing attempts around 20, Young can not only help the Titans win but can be also be a nice option if you're struggling with other quarterbacks on your roster.

Arian Foster, Running Back, Houston Texans:

Perhaps no one has ever exploded onto the fantasy scene quite like Foster did this weekend. Though he certainly got the attention of fantasy players by having a nice preseason, it was still unclear just what type of production that would translate to in the regular season in a pass-first offense. Well, rushing 33 times for 231 yards and three touchdowns certainly changes quite a bit, not to mention gets fans excited to buy a few NFL tickets. Overnight, Foster went from a flyer with some upside to completely untradeable. What's more scary is how good the overall Texans offense can be if Foster can continue to provide a bit of balance. Beating the Colts by 10 with a sub-par passing attack in week one may be a good indicator that the Texans could be on their way to their best season ever as a franchise.

Eddie Royal, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos:

It wasn't that long ago that Royal had 91 catches and nearly 1,000 yards receiving in his rookie season. It's been a bit of a different story since that year (2008) as the Broncos traded away Jay Cutler for Kyle Orton. While Cutler was able to get the ball to both Brandon Marshall and Royal, Orton locked into Marshall and Royal had just 37 catches in 14 games in 2009. With Marshall no longer on the team, however, Royal led the team in targets in Week One with 10 and hauled in eight balls for 98 yards. Orton also was able to find Brandon Lloyd down the field, but Royal certainly got plenty of work. You still shouldn't expect Royal to put up production similar to his rookie year, but it seems that Marshall's departure has opened up the door quite a bit for Royal. After trading for Laurence Maroney, it also seems that the Broncos have no faith in their running game at the moment, which only improves Royal's stock even more.

LaDainian Tomlinson, Running Back, New York Jets:

He still wasn't exactly running away from linebackers in the Jets' opening night loss to the Ravens, but he looked quicker than he has in recent seasons and appears to be a much more polished back than Shonn Greene. After two early fumbles, Greene was quickly benched and LT was the only productive player on the entire offense. With more than double the rushing attempts of Greene in the opener, LT's stock is on the rise behind a very good offensive line. Having said that, expect Rex Ryan to give Greene another shot to carry the load in their Week Two matchup against the Pats.
