Nfl Tickets - The Campaign Against Rush Limbaugh

Al Sharpton wouldn't do it

Al Sharpton wouldn't do it. Jesse Jackson wouldn't, either. Now, in what could be one of the strongest campaigns against his case, Jim Irsay won't even support conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh as he strives to become one of the elitists known as an NFL owner. Limbaugh has made some very controversial statements over the last several years that many people have come to see as racist, and that's one of the reasons why Limbaugh has been struck down lately on all sides after his acknowledgement that he's involved with a group of people bidding on ownership of the winless St. Louis Rams.

In fact, there have been such strong emotional and public outcries against Rush Limbaugh possibly owning the Rams that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell even got into the conversation this week, putting to ease some of the rumors about Limbaugh's possible involvement with the St. Louis Rams. Coming out to the public last week, Goodell helped to dispel talk of Limbaugh's aims at team ownership, claiming, "I've said many times before we're all held to a high standard here, and I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about. I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL, absolutely not."

Rush Limbaugh's uphill battle in becoming an NFL owner has suffered a harsh couple of months, but perhaps not without reason. The conservative talk show host has in the past compared the NFL to a battle of "the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons," and he also made some eyebrow-raising comments regarding "social concern" and Donovan McNabb being a successful African-American quarterback, ultimately leading to his termination from ESPN's Sunday night football segment in 2003.

Whether or not the aforementioned statements were taken out of context, Limbaugh's more-than-conservative antics may very well prevent him from becoming the next owner of the NFL's St. Louis Rams-not that the St. Louis team will even have a new owner anytime soon. The Rams are still in the early stages of sales negotiations and nothing has been close to settled yet, but this backlash of outrage coming from the American public toward Rush Limbaugh will almost solidify the fact that the talk show host will not be an owner of an NFL team anytime soon.

As for Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, he's looking past the game of football in deciding that he doesn't want Rush Limbaugh to join the crew of NFL owners. "I would not be in favor of voting for [Limbaugh]," Irsay said. "I could ask Tony Dungy, Jim Caldwell, Dwight Freeney and consult with them, but there have been comments that have been made that have been inappropriate, incendiary and insensitive. It's bigger than football. We have to watch the words that we say."

Football fans with NFL tickets online to upcoming games will get to see their favorite teams play this season-Limbaugh or no Limbaugh-and no matter what position fans take on the Rush Limbaugh issue, the games will most certainly go on.
