Nfl Tickets - Week 12 Observations
Here are some things that stood out to me in Week 12 of the 2009 NFL season.
The Saints are not going away. New Orleans put a hurtin' on the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football, asserting themselves as a legitimate candidate to go undefeated this regular season. The Saints are 11-0 and Drew Brees is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Brees was magnificent against the Patriots, throwing five touchdowns at the helm of an offense that is worth getting NFL tickets to see in person.
Fred Jackson is the best running back in Buffalo. Sure, Marshawn Lynch was a first round pick and Jackson emerged from relative obscurity, but Jackson is by far the superior back. He seems to be a smarter runner and is a good receiver out of the backfield. He may not be a feature back in the long run, but he's definitely the guy who should start in Buffalo for the remainder of the season.
Justin Forsett should start for the remainder of the season. Originally, when Julius Jones went down with a chest injury a few weeks ago, Seattle Seahawks coach Jim Mora told the media that Jones would be the starter once he was ready to return. Well, since he's been out, Justin Forsett has shined and given this running game new life. Forsett, though small in stature, looks like he might be equipped to carry the load. He should be given the chance to start for the remainder of the season.
The Redskins are a competitive team. They're not flashy and they won't wow anyone on either side of the ball, but this team is solid. If they could get more going on the ground, they'd be in the playoff hunt; I'm convinced of that. Jason Campbell is having a better year than most people realize and the defense is doing a good job. This team may not be that far from seriously competing next season.
The Colts can't continue to win games like they have been. Indy has been sneaking by lesser teams for weeks now, preserving their undefeated record in the process. If they want to go undefeated, they're going to have to come out of the gate better. Eventually someone will get the best of them if they continue like this. I don't think the Colts care too much about going 16-0, though. If you asked Peyton Manning if he'd rather go 16-0 or win the Super Bowl, what do you think he'd say? I honestly would not be all that surprised if Jim Caldwell rested his starters in Week 17, even if the team was 15-0. They don't give out a trophy for a perfect regular season.
Vince Young is officially back. People have been hopping on the VY bandwagon for a few weeks now, but I was hesitant. Chris Johnson was winning the Titans ballgames, and Young was receiving too much credit. While Johnson had another fine game against Arizona, it's Young who deserves the accolades this time. Young led the team on a 99-yard, game-winning drive in the last two and a half minutes of the contest, converting on three fourth downs along the way. It was impressive and Young has shown significant development as a pocket passer.
