Try to imagine for just a moment how different the world would look today if Nikola Tesla's perpetual magnetic energy technology had been allowed to be refined and developed for the last eighty years. And then try to imagine just a small fraction of the possible human implications that had the technology been permitted to flourish, what a difference it could have made to peoples lives, past and present. Up till now,we've all put up with the landscape ruining iron monstrosities in the belief that they've been a necessary evil. Oh, how wrong we were. I don't know about you, but knowing this makes me feel just a bit peeved. As I think about it a bit deeper and try to guesstimate the number of pylons in existence world-wide, and factor in the environmental effect the manufacturing process will have had, the un-necessary fuel burned to haul the raw materials to the foundries and then to site after production, the trillions of miles of cabling etc, etc that peeved feeling turns to genuine annoyance, not least because we are continually being led to believe that we, as individual consumers, are to blame for the phenomena known as 'climate change'.

When was the last time you looked at a nuclear power station, and thought; 'my, what a lovely building'? Nor me. Even the modern, eco-friendly, wind turbines, which are arguably more appealing than pylons, are still horrendous blights on an ever-increasing number of landscapes. Don't forget either, that although the manufacturing process of these 'windmills' is as green as it can be, it still has to be counted as a contributory factor to global warming.

Honestly, you start thinking along one avenue of reason, which naturally leads on to another then another. I hope I've made my point, and I don't want to run the risk or labouring it, but there's another avenue that you have to let your mind wander down, and that's the human element. How many times have you read in the paper, or heard it reported on the news, that an old person has died of hypothermia in their own home? And the reason for it was simply that they were so worried they couldn't afford to pay for some heat, they left the heating off, regardless of the fact ice has formed on the inside of their windows. Can you begin to imagine how that must feel? What a slow, undignified, inhuman, un-necessary way to go. I'm now feeling a little sick.
