Nikon launched the 7.2 inch naked 3D digital photo frame

On Oct, 26, Nikon (Japan) company launched the "my Picturetown 3D" business to provide the registered member with the 3D image transferring, online image sharing and storage service. The member can transfer the still image stored in my Picturetown to the 3D image on the internet. The user can view the high quality 3D image through the Nikon 3D digital photo frame NF-300i with naked eyes.

With the new service, the pictures can be transferred to 3D image for people to view on the digital photo frame. The user only needs to upload the taken pictures to the dedicated system through the network. After you finish the conversion and download the photos to digital frame, you can view the 3D photos with naked eyes. You can transfer three photos for free at most. The 7.2 inch naked 3d digital frame NF-300i for the service is also published.

The 2D to 3D transferring service is only part of the "My Picturetown" photo gallery service. It allows the user to share and store the image file online. The 2D image will be transferred to 3D through the delicated software. And it will be displayed in the NF-300i digital frame. Nikon also provides the digital frame with 3D image and video content.

Generally speaking, the 3D image will cause the decreasing of the resolution (half the pixels on the horizontal direction). But the NF-300i uses the newly LCD panel. It makes the resolution of the 3D picture reach the 800*600 of 2D picture.

NF-300i is based on the lenticular lens naked 3D technology. The view distance is within one meter. It runs Android 2.1 system. It owns the web browser, weather report, alarm, calendar and other configurations. It comes with the 7.2 inch 800*600 pixels LCD panel with the brightness of 400 lumen. It supports JPEG and MPO picture, MPEG4 video and AAC, MP3 audio formats. It's equipped with USB and ethernet interface. It also supports IEEE802.11b/g wireless network. It's additionally with the remote control and adapter.

The display aspect ratio is 4:3 and the brightness is 400 cd/m2. It has 4GB built-in storage room. The frame is not on sale at present. It's only used for the member of "my Picturetown 3D". The user can login the free network photo sharing and storage service "my Picturetown" provided by Nikon.

The user needs to rent the professional frame. The frame is about 16 cm long and 18 wide. You can also view the normal photo and video.

At presnet, Nikon only provides the serivce in Japan. The user who wants to use the service can apply from October 26. It will become operative in early December. But the My Picturetown service is not free of charge. The 3D transfer service and the renting of NF-300i digital frame will charge the users of 1995 yen per month (about 163RMB) or 19,950 yen per year in total (tax is included). It's mentioned above that Nikon probably will not sell the NF-300i digital photo frame separately.
