Ninja Weapons Training - A Surprising Ninja Self Defense Tactic To Use If He Grabs Your Weapon!

The Ninja are known for their tricky tactics, techniques and strategies

. Whether armed or unarmed, mastering Ninjutsu involves much more than knowing some Ninja moves - it involves a deep understanding about "why" a certain technique or strategy works in the first place!

This article discusses a simple, but very effective, tactic that can be used to completely confuse and turn the tables on a bigger, stronger, and even more-skilled opponent. Because, it is in these instances - moments when you are not the bigger, faster, or better-skilled combatant - that the lessons passed down to us from our ancient, Ninja ancestors, really shine!

One of the possibilities within a fight, or attack scenario, is that your attacker will grab your weapon. Regardless of whether you are armed with a knife, gun, hanbo (3 ft, "half-staff"), or anything else, you must understand why your assailant would be doing this as a part of his attack.

So, before I discuss the tactic itself, let's take a brief look at why your attacker might grab your weapon. Okay? Here are a few to get us started.

When an attacker grabs your weapon, he might be trying to...

1) Take your weapon away

2) Limit your use of the weapon

3) Move it so as to clear a path for his real attack

4) Use it to unbalance you

5) Use your fear of losing it against you

Regardless of the "why," there is still one common factor. And that is that he is trying to control you.

And, having your weapon grabbed, and neutralizing the force of that attack, requires more than just a few step-by-step techniques to avoid falling victim to his strategy. In fact, it could take months, or even years to internalize some of the more advanced methods for defending against this type of attack.

However, there is one tactic that is easy to learn, and it can be developed fairly quickly so that you might be able to start using it after only a few hours of practice.

What is it? It's simple, really. When your attacker grabs your weapon, for whatever reason - just let go!

Believe it or not, this is one of THE most surprising techniques that you could do in this situation. So much so, that he will literally be stunned by the act - allowing you to launch a counter-attack of your own!

And, the reason this technique works is not because...

1) It is a "Ninja" technique

2) He's surprised (even though he is), or...

3) Your attacker can't beat it

The reason this technique works is not because he didn't expect it, but because he expected something else instead. Without this prior assumption on his part about 'what you will do when he grabs your weapon', this tactic probably wouldn't work nearly as well - if it worked at all!

What your attacker expects when he grabs your weapon is "resistance." He expects that you will clamped down and resist his strength to hold onto your weapon. And, your doing just that is exactly what allows him to do his next move!

So, instead of resisting - instead of "doing" what he wants - "give" him what he wants. He wants your weapon, or at least control of it, so... give it to him - literally!

What this does is more than confuse him. This tactic actually effects him mentally, physically, and emotionally - all at the same time.

Yes, mentally, he is confused and surprised. But...

The fact that he expected you to resist means that he thought that he needed to apply more strength to the grab. And that, coupled with the fact that he didn't need it, causes his body to go off-balance from the inertia and force he uses. Just like that time when you tried to lift something that you thought was going to be heavy, and it turned out to be very light, the weapon flies toward him much more quickly, and uses his own force against him!

This sudden confusion with having the weapon more easily than he expected, and the physical unbalance of his body, also creates a sudden realization that he is open and exposed to attack. This creates an emotional fear-response that, in and of itself, works in your favor!

To be a Ninja means more than knowing a bunch of cool moves, or owning and being able to use some fancy weapons. It means that you think, act, and solve problems very differently than everyone else.

It means that you understand not only conflict and what causes it, but more importantly - you understand "human nature" and how it can be used as both a tool AND a weapon for your own defense!
