If you've ever had the desire to see a bear or a big old moose, then just about anywhere in Nova Scotia can provide the experience you seek. Wildlife abounds in Nova Scotia which is home to farms and parks that allow for safe viewing of these big animals up close and personal. Ask your travel guide for directions and reservations in or near the following Wildlife parks:

Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park: features wolves, moose, bears, beavers, porcupines, raccoons, and cougars. Some of the animals are born in captivity and some can no longer survive in the wild due to injuries or human interaction. The park is also home to dozens of bird species, including owls, falcons, and Canada geese. Open daily from mid-May to mid-October, the wildlife park opens weekends the remainder of the year.

Two Rivers Wildlife Park: This is a community non-profit organization, year-round wildlife park featuring bears, a moose, wolves, skunks, and a groundhog. Located in Cape Breton, this park is ideal for picnicking and family day trips.

Oaklawn Farm Zoo: See bears, raccoons, foxes, deer, and cougars. In addition, the zoo is home to camels, tigers, wallabies, and pythons. The Annapolis Valley park opens daily from Easter through to mid-October.

More rugged tourists may want to forgo the farms and zoos and camp out in the wild, after all there is nothing like seeing these animals in their natural habitats. Bear in mind that while these types of tours are readily available they are not for the faint of heart or occasional camper looking for a thrill. Ask your travel guide for more information.
