Nursing Students Expecting A Medical Job

For many nursing students across the country, the mixture of money and hard work is seemingly a recipe for landing the ultimate medical job.

That bright, shining light of higher education is seemingly dimming, however, as the eclipse of our countries recession threatens to turn out the lights on nursing jobs and medical jobs across America.

Theyve invested money in school and they expected to get jobs, but most have not gotten jobs, says Dr. Li Loriz, University of North Florida Nursing Department Assistant Professor.

As the economy figuratively puts its thumb down on healthcare jobs spending, many nursing students are headed out of their hometowns or college towns to get a medical job.

Some areas might have more jobs than others, but its a national problem thats not unique to any one area, says Loriz about thefloundering medical job market.

Lorizs advice to students looking to land their first medical job is to prepare properly for interviews: Dress to impress, have a sharp resume and cover letter and be positive in interviews.

In the Fall of 2002 I graduated from the University of Florida with 2 degrees: Telecommunications and Political Science. I have been involved in newspaper writing, radio disc jockeying, public relations, radio news reporting, web-based news reporting and finally TV news reporting.

As a television news reporter, under the name Shay Andersen, I was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists for Best Coverage of Minorities in the Lima, OH community. I won first place beating out other reporters in major markets such as Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland. In addition, I have been recognized by the Associated Press for Best Spot News coverage of the 2006 Ice Storm that brought the entire community of Lima, OH to a standstill.
