Obama's Funding Program Helps With Education

Going back to school can seem like a financial burden

, but it does not have to be that way. President Barack Obama wants people to get their college degrees and find a well-paying job after they graduate. That is why he has set aside funding for mothers who are thinking about furthering their education.

Scholarships for Moms is not a new program, but it has gained popularity lately because of improvements made to it. For instance, the federal Pell Grant now offers at least $5,000 to mothers who meet specific financial guidelines. This amount was increased from $4,050 by the Obama administration. The money is a government grant so it does not have to be paid back. This takes away the financial worries associated with school. Too, there is a new tax credit the American Opportunity Credit, which comes at $2,500 per student. This money helps taxpayers with their expenses, including educational costs.

Even with the assistance, moms sometimes are afraid to get started because they don't think there will be time for both school and taking care of the kids. Online degree programs are a big help, because they allow the student to learn from home so some time is saved. Where there is a will, there is a way. The mom has to really want this degree. She will make it happen if she has a strong enough desire. Her family will be thankful once all is said and done. It might be hard in the beginning to adjust to a new schedule, but the family will understand that mom needs to work hard to build a better life for the home.

However, not everyone will qualify for these grants and credits that are based on income. Don't be discouraged because there are many scholarships that mothers and women can apply for. Research the Internet to find them because they are out there. Some can be as much as $10,000. Fathers can apply as well. Be careful because there is some misleading information out there. Just be sure the organization you find a grant through is legitimate, and don't give out your information until you are absolutely sure.
