Ohio Laser Announces New 3d Laser Scanning And Quality Inspection Services
To improve manufacturing processes, Ohio Laser introduced its new quality control
inspection and reverse engineering services for parts up to 48" square.
With Ohio Laser's new laser scanning services, the benefits are numerous for manufacturers that require quality control inspection and reverse engineering services. First, throughout the entire forming and assembly process new parts go through a 100% quality control inspection regime to check for exacting accuracy. Even old parts without original drawings or tooling can be reverse engineered using this 3D laser scanning system. Additionally, this system nearly eliminates re-work, re-scheduling and scrap due to parts being out of specification thus greatly improving manufacturing efficiencies.
The 3D laser scanning system will inspect a complex part up to 48" square in under a minute and produce full documentation of production prints.
Ohio Laser's 3D laser scanning system can measure any flat or opaque part for reverse engineering many parts. Most metals, plastics, paper products, composite materials, rubbers, cork, leather, vinyl, felt and fabrics are all suitable for the laser scanner.
With this system, parts with thicknesses up to 200mm (8" inch) that weight up to 90kg (200lbs) can be scanned. In applications where tolerance must be exacting as in sheet metal inspection or gasket inspection, the system is ideal.
Additionally, parts up to 48" x 48" can be processed in a single scan. More importantly, using a multiple scanning process, parts up to two times the width of the 1220mm x 1220mm (48" x 48") scan table and of infinite length can be 'merged'.
Ohio Laser's 3D laser scanning system can also:
Create production templates for the inspection dimensions.
Gather essential data on the critical dimensions and specifications of parts.
Generate inspection reports in seconds to meet quality control requirements.
Create SPC data including charting data in a Histogram, Run Chart, and X Bar/Range plot.
At Ohio Laser, this industrial 3D laser scanning system is also increasing the accuracy of laser cut and fabricated metal parts being produced. The press brake operators at Ohio Laser have welcomed using the scanner to document parts which has resulted in increased operator confidence that what they are producing is meeting the demands of their customers. With this system, Statistical Process Control (SPC) can be used if necessary and metal parts can also be reverse engineered.
An ISO 9001:2008 certified metal fabrication company, Ohio Laser is continually improving manufacturing processes for other companies using advanced laser cutting and fabrication technologies. In additional to metal fabrication services, Ohio Laser offers both flat laser and laser tube cutting services.
