One of those obstacles to be overcome is negative peer pressure and negatively comparing yourself with others. This comes up in a variety of ways. Perhaps there are some subjects you struggle with while others find it easy. Maybe some topics take you a longer time to catch or you need a lot of review or memorization to get to where youre satisfied with your work. Theres always those who will try to make you feel small, those who would rather make others low than to put any effort into being better. You tell yourself you dont want to believe them, but after a while it starts to wear on you.

Listening to or even thinking negatively can affect your grades in ways you might not realize right away. Telling yourself youre no good in any subject, that youll never get it, or worse yet, that youre too stupid to learn it will only have detrimental effects in your life and school results. Its simply not true that youre too stupid or slow to learn anything. With effort on your part, you can overcome even the most difficult of subjects and succeed despite all the nay sayers or those who would like to drag you down. Dont give in to self-doubt, not even for a little while.

If you find yourself comparing negatively or at the negative end of peer pressure, find someone you can trust that you can talk to. Expressing your doubts can help you as you come to realize that things are seldom as terrible as they seem and difficulties can be overcome. Find out if theres anything you can do to boost your confidence, study harder, or find ways to make difficult subjects a bit easier for you to comprehend, but dont compare to how others learn. Its true, you can learn from others learning methods, but that doesnt mean comparing if you find you learn differently. Find what works best for you, find what youre good at, and excel in that.

Getting it out of your system can be a good way to realize that everything is not quite as bleak as you feel at the time, but dont dwell there. Move on right away. Make the effort to rise above those negative thoughts by thinking good thoughts, think of your goals, the good grades youre going for, why youre doing all this, and get back up and go on.

Its said that attitude is everything, and while it might not be everything, its certainly pretty close, so work on creating a good attitude towards your studies, the way you study, and your grades.
