Condominiums have become a very popular type of residential real estate in the Philippines

. Because of its popularity in the past as well as its growing demands, a number of new condominiums were introduced in the market. One popular type of condo in Philippines is the condominium complex. So what is a condominium complex? What are its advantages and disadvantages? And what are its similarities with townhouse complexes?

A new type of condo

Most condo in Philippines are found in large cities such as in Makati and Ortigas, or commercial areas. The luxury of living in these types of residential real estate is that it gives its residence the luxury of living near their workplace, usually within walking distance or mass transit distance, allowing them to avoid rush hour.

Because of huge demand for new types of housing in the Philippines, as well as the changing needs of Filipinos, a number of establishments in the Philippines such as Ayala Land have introduced new types of condominiums which are different from the ones seen in major business districts. These new types of condominiums are called condominium complexes.

Condominium complexes, compared to the towering condominiums in the city, are mostly found in a more quieter and peaceful location, such as in provincial areas like Tagaytay or even in outskirts of the city such as in Marikina, Taguig, or in Novaliches. And compared to city condos, condominium complexes are usually sited on a wide expanse of land which is comprised of smaller condominium buildings.

Pros and cons

According to a number of Filipinos, these types of condominiums are mostly perfect for those planning to build a family. Compared to the busy streets of the city condos, these types of condo in Philippines are more suitable for growing children.

The disadvantage of condominium complexes, however, is that it puts its residents too far from the city and their workplaces. However, there are several benefits of living in these kinds of condominiums. Other than being a more family-oriented type of condo, condominium complexes are known for its amenities that residents can enjoy such as swimming pools, gyms, and recreational parks. These types of amenities are usually not found in city condos.

Similarity with townhouse complexes

There are many similarities between a townhouse complex and a condominium complex. One is with its wide expanse of land as well as with its amenities. The difference, however, is that townhouses involve owning a whole floor of a building or a compound while condominiums involve owning a unit in a floor. In terms of cost, condominium complexes are usually more affordable than townhouse complexes.
