The Boston based group Avoid One Thing began with collaborations between John Gittleman

, bassist for the band the Mighty Mighty Bosstones; guitarist Amy Teen; Paul Delano, former member of Darkbuster; and drummer Dave Krucich. It originally started as a side project as they recorded several albums between 2002 and 2005, before going off on hiatus.

The band created punk rock songs, in the vein of Dropkick Murphys and Greenday. The Avoid One Thing Lyrics illustrate a variety of topics, including Lean On Sheena, in which the boys hang for a night to drink, despite Leana being intoxicated and dependant on the gang. Much of the Avoid One Thing lyrics are written by John Gittleman.

Their first self-titled album, as well as the rest of their albums and compilations after that, was recorded by the Side One Dummy label. After the band toured and before the band was to released their 2004 album Chopstick Bridge, Avoid One Things dummer Dave Krucich died suddenly of a brain aneurysm. John Lynch replaced him as drummer.

Their second album Chopstick Bridge departed from the punk rock genre and into a more general rock category. Another new development was Amy Teen splitting the lead vocals. The second album also includes a short documentary on the band.

Eminems Beautiful lyrics were inspired by the difficulties he encountered while recovering from drug addiction, exhaustion and a lack of artistic inspiration for a span of several years. The song Beautiful comes of his sixth album Relapse from 2009 and was released as the third single.

Despite the so-so reviews from music critics, the album was highly anticipated and flew up to the first spot in the Billboard charts, making it the top selling album of that year in hip-hop. Detractors of the album felt it was depraved, silly and lacked the emotional depth that his previous albums showed in spades.

Although the album overall generally lacked high critical praise, the song Beautiful was considered a bright spot of the album. Critics lauded the song for its brutal self-honesty, as well as the arena power anthem feel. The song samples from Rock Therapys Reaching Out. The music video for Beautiful was filmed in Eminems original hometown, Detroit. As of this writing, the songs music video has reached about 125 million hits on Youtube. The song was Grammy-nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance, losing out to Jay-Z.
