Organizations need to keep up with future trends
Trends can help to forecast the future. Life changes and organizations have to change with it. If an organization decides not to change with upcoming trends, they will be destined to fail. A center that I worked with on their strategic plan will have to address many changes in the future. In a few years the center will need to address the following: virtual learning, cyber videos, and data management system.
Although the center is in full operation and they have received new equipments for better management, they are still far behind. Currently the center is being operated as if they were in the early 1990s. The owners for the center have high expectation. They want the center to grow and add additional programs. In order for this to happen, they need to be equipped.
The current mind frame of the owners is that the programs offered are of little or no cost to the public. Since this is the case, they do not necessarily feel that they need to move with current or future trend. However, organizations need to change with upcoming trends; it is vital to their continued success.
The center current programs are for adults. In the future, they will add programs for children. It is essential that the center have a data management system, as parents would want to know their children progress. Data management systems have become an essential tool to enable educators to use data to improve education and meet the demands of the No Child Left Behind Act. Student, parent, and teacher portals allow on-demand access to information for various reasons: for example, a parent wants to find out his child's current grade and assignment in a specific class, a student needs to download class notes, or a teacher wants to find out how an individual student performed on a specific content standard on the statewide exam.
The center has to get prepared for what is ahead. The decision to move forward with technological trends cannot only look at the past and the present. They need to look at the external trends such as the No Child Left Behind Act, and internal trend such as community expectations. In any organization the key holders need to identify the critical issues, ongoing issues, and emerging issues in order for them to keep up with future trends.
