Organizing Your Daily Use Desk
There is no place like home, but there surely is one place we spend more time at rather than at home - the workplace
. More or less, everyone is concerned about the tidiness and arrangement of their homes but when it comes to workplaces, their attitudes are very dissimilar. Most office desks are found to be very untidy and unorganized. Stationary, papers, ink refill needs, inkjet cartridges, sticky notes and so many more things spread above the surface of office tables. Not only does it look inappropriate, it also creates difficulty to find something the instant you need it. Some people do reserve the time to clear and arrange their tables every once in a while. Yet, there are people who overlook the significance of an arranged table. With the desk not properly arranged, it is simple to get it untidy within minutes after putting everything in place. When you need something, you may need to shuffle everything up and down again because you haven't set a location for it.
Therefore, you have to know how to organize your table in a manner that everything is easy to get to and arranged. Not only does that lower the time required of a job, but also makes a good feeling of your individuality. So, here are a few tips that will make the work life much easier for you:
Firstly being with removing all things off your desk. You'd be surprised to see how much room it really has.
Get rid of all unnecessary items like worthless printouts, rough pages, outdated notes, extra pencils, useless pens, etc. Toss away anything that you are not likely to use. No matter how pretty it looks, throw it away without any second thoughts.
Put your computer or workstation back. Put your phone set on the side of the hand that you mostly use. Copy the details in a spiral phone diary and throw out all the extra contact cards. You can also use this spiral book to note down important notes before making the call. This lowers the time you need on call.
Sort items in general categories like stationary, papers, pocket stuff and store them in different drawers. If your table does not have any drawers, it is best to use separate containers or boxes for different stuff.
Your things should be available according to needs. Most frequently used things such as pens or pencils can be placed in a box over the table. The stationary less needed should be in one drawer and papers in another.
Electronic things such as printers, scanners and modems should not placed over the surface and keep them down the desk or anywhere else when not required. It is good to have a book shelf to hold such equipment and other big stuff regardless of the frequency of usage.
Finally, take a little time out of your daily timetable or five minutes before you go and reorganize you desk. It won't take a lot of time and effort if done every day.
