Apartments and Condominiums

One of the most common types of multi-unit dwellings in the Philippines today are apartments and condominiums. Although condominiums have only recently gained popularity in the Philippine market, it quickly became popular for many individuals, whereas apartments were one of the oldest types of housings in the Philippines.

Apartments and condominiums are usually comprised of multiple individual residential units found in a building, these are usually known as apartment buildings. According to many Philippines property specialists, apartment buildings are very similar to that of condominiums, that a building to be used as an apartment could also be used as a condominium. The only difference between an apartment from a condominium is the legal binding. Apartment units are individually rented to tenants whereas condominiums are sold to individual owners. Apartments are usually owned by a single entity whereas condominium units are individually owned.


Townhouses

Townhouses are one of the most popular and oldest forms of housing in the Philippines. There are many townhouses found in urban areas in which every house is similar to each other. However, townhouses of today have become exclusively for the wealthy. According to many Philippines property specialists, townhouses are generally found in complexes. Large complexes often have high security, resort facilities such as swimming pools, gyms, parks and playground equipment.

Multi-family houses

A multi-family house is usually comprised of multiple separate housing units for residential. According to many Philippines property specialists, apartments are usually also a form of multi-family houses. Other types of multi-family residential also includes:

Two, Three, and Four-flats - These types are usually similar to houses, commonly built on a house lot, consisting of many flats from taking up the first floor, to second, third, and fourth floor.


Duplex or semi-detached - One building consisting of two separate "houses", typically side by side, each with separate entrances and typically without common inside areas.

Townhouse - a house attached to any number of other townhouses each of which may have multiple floors, commonly side by side each with their own separate entrances.
