Outside Lands Music Festival Tickets - Check Out These Band In 2010
Chicagoans have Lollapalooza and Texans can brave the dust for Austin City Limits
, but where are Bay Area indie-rock fans to go for a musical bash this year? If you live anywhere near San Francisco, prepare to check out the Outside Lands Music Festival, a two-day celebration of every style of music you can think of. Everything from singer-songwriter fare to electronic synth-pop and gritty rock can be found on the stages at this festival in 2010.
Below is a list of acts that you absolutely have to catch at this year's festival.
Saturday, Aug. 14
Let's not kid ourselves-the headliners are going to be pulling in most of the crowd, and this year's top headliner for Saturday night is a biggie: Further, a collaborative join between Phil Lesh and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead. This is the perfect matchup for the Bay Area, and there are sure to be plenty of fans in the crowd ready to hear these two classic '60s rockers on the stage. Of course, younger crowds looking for rock with a little more hop to it will be looking forward to catching the Strokes, who are on their first tour in a long, long while. The New York indie rockers will be a major draw, and may even steal some of the thunder away from My Morning Jacket, who's countrified rock might be more your cup of tea if you want a calmer jam.
Those are the major players, but festival favorite Gogol Bordello is an act that no one should miss. Blending gypsy folk and punk together, this band has come up with a brand of rock that's altogether different. Make sure you're there to see frontman Eugene Hutz crowd surf on top of a drum-something they do at every show.
Sunday, Aug. 15
Sunday night's headliner is the all-around crowd-pleaser in Kings of Leon, whose country-rock should satiate the listeners who were enjoying Further the night before. While their feel-good jams will be perfect for the crowd, anyone wanting a livelier experience should head over to see Phoenix, a French band that's been around for ages, but exploded into national attention in 2009 with the hit song "1901."
There will be a few classic artists to catch on Sunday earlier in the evening, including Social Distortion, who you can never go wrong with, as well as gospel godfather the Rev. Al Green. Even earlier in the day, there will be a fair amount of variety to catch, from the glittering synth-pop of Empire of the Sun to the amazing indie-rock of Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, whose "Home" has to be one of the best songs of the past year. The fact that it went viral and impressed so many music blogs should tell you something about how enjoyable this band is to see live.
Aside from what we've listed here, there are a ton of smaller bands as well. Get Outside Lands Music Festival tickets from StubHub today!
