Overseas Education Canada - A Way To Its Citizenship

From February 14 2010 , International students graduating from Quebec will be issued a Certificate of Selection to become a citizen of Canada

. This was announced by Jean Charest, the premier of Quebec, during his visit to Mumbai university on Monday morning. The certificate will help fast-track the citizenship process, Charest said.

More interestingly , the announcement comes close on the news of a UK visa freeze and racial attacks on Indians in Australia.The new add-ons to the choices of international education destination and marks Canada as great option for students opting for higher studies abroad. While the number of Indian students queuing up for Australia has declined , the UK border Security Force has suspended issuing visas to north Indian students, said an expert. The number of applications for UK rose due to the bleak chances of students to get through and get admissions in US universities .

In the audience in Mumbai , students and experts had several questions for Charest after he made the announcement. Any student who secures a bachelors, masters or doctoral degree form any university in Quebec will obtain a certificate of selection to become a citizen of Canada. We have the right to select our own citizens. We are doing this because we have a shortage of skilled labour, the premier explained. Once the certificate is handed out, Charest added, the federal government would conduct health and security checks before awarding the citizenship.

The decision, which comes into effect in less than a fortnight, reflects a willingness to be open minded. When we look at our future, we look to India. Your countrys requirement for infrastructure needs and education are tremendous. They are the aspirants and requirements of a 1.1 billion people. We have a vision for an open society, Charest said.

These steps will definately work well with students as attaining the citizenship in the country of studying is also one of the major reasons of all international students who opt higher education in those countries.
