I personally prefer exercise bands, not only because of the lower price, but because they are portable, adaptable and more versatile than the set of dumbbells. Anyone who is in the market for a nice set of resistance bands should look at these two options: I would recommend either the Bodylastics Home Gym or The Golds Gym Resistance Bands. Bodylastics appears to give you more for the money than the Golds Gym strength bands.
Now, turning to the pull-up bar. You can find several good options here, even if you don't want to spend much money. You can use the resistance bands to do pull downs, instead of doing chin-ups or pull ups. Alternatively, you can buy a $20 doorway chin up bar. As you can see, it's very cost-effective. Moreover, it beats the $50 P90X chinups product they sell by a long road.
What about those push-ups - will you really need to use the stands or a set of push-up Pro? The answer is both yes and no. With these items, you will not have to deal with wrist strain as much, and your pushups can go deeper; however, you can do the same thing by just doing pushups using two chairs instead. Whatever you decide push up stands or perfect push-up, they're both inexpensive at around $30 for either set.
That's really all the equipment you'll need for a P90X workout, though if you're working on a hard surface, you may also want to add a floor mat to the list.
