Pack Your Possessions To Arrive Safely
Gone are the days when you throw all of your possessions into the back of truck and move to your new location
. Now that you are older you may have a whole household of items that have been collected and treasured over the years, precious memories that you would hate to part with due to reckless moving techniques. While it certainly might take more time than the toss n' go method, you will be rewarded by having all of your items in one piece when they arrive, plus an organized method of telling the moving company where each box should go. Knowing which boxes to use and how to pack your items in them will make what can be a difficult process much easier.
There are three basic sizes of cartons that you can purchase to safely encase your household items. In general, the small carton can hold pieces such as books, movies, nonperishable items, and delicate pieces that should be kept away from larger, bulkier items. Medium cartons are perfect for small garage tools, smaller electronics, and pots and pans. Finally, large cartons can hold a considerable more amount of items that could be otherwise bulky, like linens, pillows, Tupperware, and lamp shades.
Other boxes are more specialized and are designed to carefully transport their intended items. For example, dishpacks hold your dinnerware that is normally such a pain to transport without fear of breakage. Mirror cartons hold one of the more fragile pieces in your collection. There are even cartons meant to hold your mattresses to protect them from outside problems like ripping, exposure to the elements, or stains. Rather than pay to replace pieces that could be damaged or destroyed in the process of moving it is smart to properly package them in boxes that are designed to cushion them from impact.
Finally, when there just doesn't seem to be a box that fits your needs, or you have items that are too delicate, a packing crate is ideal for these purposes. They can hold just about anything from grandfather clocks and glass table tops to wide screen TVs and motorcycles. Whatever the item is, there is a packing box or crate that will safely transport it to your new home. If you aren't sure how to best package your belongings, there are videos available to show you exactly how to wrap up and store everything that means anything to you.
With each box that you complete, you can make the process of moving just easier by clearly labeling where it is meant to go in your new house. This will signal the movers to place boxes in the correct rooms, rather than you having to go back and rearrange everything once they have already left for the day. Whether this is your first move or your tenth, make this as smooth as possible so the only thing you have to worry about it what color you want to paint your new bedroom.
