Another way is keeping a journal of your debt payments. This way you will be able to keep a record of how well you are doing with your overall debt payments. Another use of keeping a journal is that you can actually provide a direct picture to what you have to do, and how you have to do it. It is indeed true when people say that debt not only exhaust an individual financially but also emotionally and mentally. A journal will definitely ease your mind, and let you plan accordingly and make you feel better because you will be paying off your debt, and writing about it.

This old school method for paying off debt is called Envelope budgeting. Envelope Budgeting has shown proof to be a very reliable method for budgeting your spending patterns. This type of budgeting was used by families years ago (before the technology age), so they could keep track of every dollar they spent. This method will not only categorize your patterns but also give you more control over your cash flow. Keeping your money in one place and spending it without keeping track of how much you have already spent on a particular budget item will cost you. In the end you will realize that you actually spent more money than you actually should have. Envelope budgeting also enables a person to see whether he or she can make up for a budget item that is currently in deficit.

By using these suggestions stated above, it can move you towards paying off your debt and becoming debt-free.
