People Are Looking For Leadership, Not Hype!

Has someone ever pitched a great idea to you? Have you gone to see a great income producing opportunity and thought this is great

, but I"m not joining under you? I have and I am sure you have too.

There are several reasons but the first one that comes to mind is that the person pitching you is not someone you want to follow or even be associated with. Harsh but true.

I have a few examples of this. I remember I left a direct sales company that I had been with for about 5 years. I was a little disheartened to see that after 5 years of hard work that I really didn"t have anything to show for it but a lot of product. I left at the insistence of my husband and starting looking for something different. I remember after a course of events seeing an ad for a legal services company. I called the ad listened to the "kid" on the other line talk about his "upline" and what his "upline" had accomplished and what his "upline" would help me do.

Well I went against that "gut" feeling that I had and I joined. This "kid" knew absolutely nothing. Well I take that back. He knew how to place ads and "sell" his upline but that was it. I didn"t blame him. I blamed myself and I learned from this mistake. Whoever recruits you must be a leader. They must have some skill to help you get to the next level.

Now you may say what about the new person getting started? I know we were all new at one time, but even as a new person, there must be some type of plan or a system that they can plug the new person in. What I mean by this is a system that no matter how long you have been in the business, anyone can do it. This is a must or success will continue to allude you.

My second example is when an opportunity was introduced to me I was really burnt out with the industry. I was so tired of lotions and potions but the person kept inviting me so out of courtesy, I went with them. The presentation was outstanding but the person who invited me was not professional. He introduced me to people who were not professional and I just felt myself closing up although I was intrigued by this new opportunity. I could actually see myself doing it. Eventually I did join that company but not with that person.

Was that wrong? No. Not really. Initially, I didn"t feel great about my decision but in the end I knew it was the right thing to do for my family and I. After all, this is a business and I wanted success and I wanted a leader to help me get there. This is a free country at the time of this writing and I did not want to repeat what had happened to me years before. I wanted a leader. Someone that could at least help me after I signed up.

Now ask yourself that question. Are you a person that after someone signs up you can point them in the right direction? Do you have a system that they can plug into immediately? If not, you should fix that right away. People are looking for leadership, not hype. Not fancy power point presentations. They want a leader.

I have a saying. "When you are going to a new destination, you either need a map, GPS, or a person that"s been there done that." Make sure you can offer one or the other to your new person.

Cheers!
