All good drivers should know the importance of having an emergency kit in their cars. Most of the cars come with a first aid kit, and most of people just buy one, but there are things that you may need that are not available. It is very important to personalize your own crisis kit. The first thing that should come with every kit is the instructions. It is virtually impossible to be of use if you have all the supplies but has no clue on how to use them. The kit you assemble should have instructions. The next vital thing you should have in the first aid kit is medicine and bandages. Most kits come with the bandages but very few have medicine. Depending on your needs, for example for frequent headaches, it is advisable to have a pain killer. If there are members of the family with special medical cases, their medication should be in a priority in the kit. Your first aid kit should have aspirin, gauze, moist wipes, antibiotic ointment, eyewash, and burn cream. It is recommended that you have a wide variety of bandages to handle any kind of injury. This means bandages ranging from small sizes to the large ones. Flares and road triangles are also very important. These items should be put in mint (new) condition so that in case of any trouble, they are readily available. Did you know that blankets and clothing are items that are rarely considered as part of most kits. These come in handy in case of fires or being stranded somewhere at night. It is good to always be prepared for anything. In some situations, a warm blanket and a change of clothes could save a life. It is always advisable to always have extra. Extra blankets, extra clothes, extra bandages. When an emergency occurs the driver is usually not the only one involved. There might be other people in dire need and it is good to be able to lend a hand. Among the extra clothes you should have a bright colored cloth. You might wonder what this is for; in case you do not have an emergency sign then you can tie the cloth somewhere visible on the car to signal for help. A roll of duct tape is hardly put in an emergency kit but it s amazing how it comes in handy in case of emergencies. So your emergency kit should have one. A duct tape could momentarily fix a wrecked windshield wiper; it may possibly pick up glass debris; even mend a broken nose. Many people have cell phones but have never considered having one in the emergency kit. The battery should always be recharged just for emergencies. It should also be prepaid because most of the time people do not have funds when they need them. Some tools also come in handy and should be in the emergency kit for example pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches and socket wrenches. A booster cable should come in handy when jump starting a faulty or dead battery. A flash light should feature in the emergency kit. This is a very personalized kit.
