Petty Burglars Target the Wrong House

Many home invasions and burglaries are committed by career criminals. In fact most of the robberies of homes and persons are committed by people who have previous criminal records. Unfortunately most of these people for one reason or another has become addicted to drugs and they reach a point of addiction where the drugs control them both mentally and physically. Drugs cost money, and these people would be lucky if they could hold any sort of job to afford their habits, so more often than not they revert to crime to look for an easy way to support their habit. Innocent homeowners are often victims of these criminals who are craving their next fix, and for that reason alone it is important to have a home security system to keep your valuables safe.

Donny and Jason weren't hardened criminals, although they had each done a two year stint in jail for robbery. They had been stealing bronze placards from graveyards and found a corrupt individual who paid them for the bronze, even though he knew where it came from. He would melt it down and sell it, and when the police came knocking on his door he sold out Donny and Jason. Now they were out of prison and they were back trying to find a job. Donny had a bad drug habit and Jason had an equally bad gambling problem, both of which required money to afford.

They found some work doing under the table landscaping and odd-jobs, but when Donny got the cash in his pocket, he was down and out for a few days. When he came back to reality he had lost his job. Jason got into some serious trouble with a loan-shark and had gotten way over his head in debt. He was not making anywhere near enough to pay off the weekly debt. They both decided they would try and hit a home in one of the local suburbs and make off with enough to pay their debts.

Christine was a hardworking lady who owned a nice little home in a middle class subdivision. She was a single woman and knew the dangers of living alone. When she bought the place she installed a home security system to help keep her safe from any would be predators. She was a working woman who worked the 9 to 5 shift like most of the people in her subdivision. Donny was keenly aware that these neighborhoods were virtually vacant during the daytime hours and he chose her community as their target.

They were crusing around the neighborhood when he saw Christine's house. The lawn had not been cut in a while and the house looked like it was vacant. Of all the houses around them, they chose hers as their target and came in the middle of the day. They pulled into the driveway and pried broke down the back door. The security system went off immediately which caused them to panic. They started grabbing anything of value and threw what they could into the car. That was when the trouble set in because they had no idea how to get out of the neighborhood.

They felt like they were trapped in a maze and they could hear the sirens getting closer as they drove around in circles. A police car passed by them and then turned around and pulled them over. It was obvious immediately that they were the suspects as they fumbled for explanations about the stolen items in the back seat.

Later that day Christine went to the police station and was able to identify all of the stolen items. She thanked the police for their help and even called the home security company to report what a great job they had done. Thanks to the home security system, Christine had all of her possessions returned and two criminals were off the street.
