Photography: Tips On Staying Fresh And Keeping Your Passion Alive

I have some of the very best photography equipment in my arsenal

, yet I take hundreds of photos with my camera phone. It's fast to pull from my pocket when I'm on the street. I take pictures of family, friends, cars, buildings, trains and even fixtures in the street. This keeps me sharp and on my toes for those and makes me a better photographer.

When you can think outside the box you get great results. Think about the obvious place to take a photo of something and then do the exact opposite. How many times do you see photos of flowers taken from beneath the peddles? Instead of just taking a photo of a dog, how about laying down and applying the dutch angle? How about whistling or making a funny noise and capturing how the furry guy reacts?

Photography is not a perfect science. There are a countless number of ways to capture a moment. Don't sell yourself short by doing what is obvious or easy. A common mistake is hang around one spot for too long. Move around, travel to where you normally would not go, meet different people and open up to different cultures. All of these things help you to see the world differently. These practices continue to help me develop my skills and knowledge, and as a wedding photographer, I have to stay fresh and ready. If photography is your passion, you want to keep it alive, so have fun and milk it for all it's worth.
