Piano Lessons - How Much Do Piano Lessons Cost?
It's an interesting word, "cost." A man was very proud of the second-hand motorcar he bought recently
. He said got it at a bargain price. The problem was, from thereon in the cost to him was enormous. Everything he imagined to go wrong with his "bargain" did go wrong. To get it to work properly and safely he ended up with a cost nearly double that of the original.
If we apply this tale as an analogy for the cost of piano lessons, it is possible to end up with the same result. It's natural for us to want the best of lessons for the least price available, thinking we've struck a good deal, but it's far from natural for us to be satisfied with below ordinary results.
Depending on a range of factors, piano lessons can be anything from $25-$35 per half-hour up to $40-$80 per hour. It is recommended at the beginning stage, to settle for half-hour lessons as this helps to diminish information overload.
Added to the cost per lesson, the student may also be required to purchase some additional piano tuition books along with some CD's & DVD's. If that's the case then the cost of these could range anywhere from $15-$60, maybe more. If we add those costs to his or her weekly lesson at the minimum $25 price, then after merely ten or twelve lessons it starts to get rather expensive for the average person. $300 could get blown away in no time with possibly very little to show for it.
Even if the value is reasonable, the question still to be asked is, how many more lessons will the student need to arrive at a satisfactory standard? In other words, once the basics are fully covered, how long will it take for him or her to tackle the most advanced techniques? How many more lessons will be needed until he or she is good enough to do solo gigs or play with a band?
What about the different styles of playing? Rock, Classical, Ragtime, Country, Boogie-Woogie, Blues, Jazz, and Latin is the student getting the opportunity to learn these so as to discover which one suits best? Even more importantly, is he or she being encouraged to develop a style of their own through the blending together of different styles?
Let's come back to cost. If the teacher promised "yes" to all those questions, what would it cost? How long would it take? There is a piano course that offers all this and more. It's called Learn & Master Piano and it comes at a cost nowhere as expensive as the average piano teacher in town.
It is often said that quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten. Well, Learn & Master Piano is most certainly a quality piano course, but it comes at only a fraction of the cost by comparison to anything else around. That makes the price very forgettable.
