It was in the year 1989 that the municipality of Fuengirola took control of this castle and now it is declared one of the heritage properties. The castle is now fully restored to its original glory. During July and August many concerts and dance programs are held here. There are good roads to reach the castle and enough parking area has also been provided.

Some tourists call this a Gem of Fuengirola. It has works of art dating back to Moors, Visigoths who are considered the early settlers of Fuengirola. Many works of art and paintings believed to have been belonging to this period are on display in this museum.
