According to history, this cathedral has been built on an existing Mosque. The cathedral is lavishly decorated with spectacular sculpture works, paintings, etc. Historians also say that the present bell tower was a Minaret of the Mosque. The statue of El Giraldillo is located on the top of the cathedral. According to local language El Giraldillo means faith'. Just visit this Cathedral and you will certainly fall in love with it.

There is another interesting monument; construction of the Alcazar which is just opposite the Cathedral started in the year 1181 and was completed after about 500 years. This is constructed in typical Mudejar and Renaissance architecture. The garden abutting Alcazar has a healthy combination of Christian, Moorish and Andalusia tradition.

Torre del Oro:

This watchtower is believed to have been constructed by Almohad dynasty in the early part of the 13th century. It was used by the army to oversee the places surrounding the river Guadalquivir. In the middle ages it was used as a prison. Apart from that, it was also used as a place to store precious metals and articles. In the year 1760, one more tower was added to the existing one. The lesser of this tower is called Half sister. The entire tower is in Octagonal shape. It is quite interesting to visit this beautiful structure.
