The use of plastic covered greenhouses is increasing rapidly among commercial growers these days

, and for good reason. These simple houses can be constructed quickly as well as economically, so that they can go into production very quickly. It is pretty much easy to install irrigation and heating equipment into these structures, and they can be quickly covered with shade fabric when spring turns to summer. Because of its high efficiency, plants can be moved easily around with the help of mechanized equipment. These plastic greenhouses are a boon for commercial grower.

If you enjoy gardening and love growing different types of plants in your home, then a plastic greenhouse is of very much importance to you. It can be constructed quickly which may be used for seasonal production of seedlings for the vegetable or flower garden.

Generally, the most common types of greenhouses in use are Quonset styled greenhouses, covered with a single layer of plastic film. The type of film usually depends upon the type of structure you use. In case of seasonal use of greenhouse, that left unoccupied for most of the year, an average quality plastic may be used and replaced after every season.

It is not very difficult to heat these types of greenhouses. With a bit of care during watering, a small electric heater may be sufficient. Small propane heater will also work fine if some stipulation is taken for ventilation of the waste gasses from these devices. It is good to avoid kerosene heater as the gases can destroy the plants very quickly.

As far as plastic films are considered, there are mainly two types of plastic used smooth transparent sheets of polyethylene and vinyl film, and corrugated and special types of plastic such as Fiberglas, Al-synite, Mylar, Filon, and Corrolux.

For a home gardener, these plastic greenhouses provide appropriate atmosphere for growing plants in a safe way.
