Portage Dodge Ram becomes separate entity with new Dodge image and direction-
The horn has sounded. The Ram's head is no more for Dodge cars. It would seem logical to keep the emblem for the Ram truck and the rest of the Chrysler truck line where it's now being used, but time will tell. Chrysler has created a new logo for its brand and that new logo will begin appearing on Dodge cars in place of the Ram.
Portage Dodge Ram customers shouldn't worry too much, though. It's just a symbol and hopefully changing it won't affect the customer perception or have any bearing on the quality of the product. The new Dodge logo consists of the name "Dodge" in all caps with a couple of red stripes. Not too fancy, but it leaves no doubt about who the maker is. Apparently Chrysler is hoping the new logo will remind buyers of the long-standing tradition behind the name and its reputation as tough and dependable.
The stripes, by the way, are a reference to racing and should make the buyer think of "speed and agility". A bit of a stretch, but I'll take their word for it as I never would have made the association myself. The important thing for buyers of Portage used cars is the recognition factor, and as I mentioned, the name pretty much speaks for itself. Still, for Portage Dodge Ram buyers who are sentimental you can always buy a truck and keep the ram's head. What customers need to focus on is the array of quality and competitive vehicles Chrysler is offering right now.
Aside from trucks that have been top-rated (and still have the ram's head), the Dodge Caliber is an interesting crossover and very roomy and affordable. Then, for the die-hard classic car lover, there are the Challenger and the Charger - sporty muscle car throwbacks guaranteed to make you feel like a teenager again.
Of course, the standby Dodge Caravan mini van has been a favorite for many years and even has a new cool ad campaign to promote it. The Nitro SUV also puts a bit of a spin on the familiar and comes in at a very reasonable price as well.
Dealers of Portage used cars may want to keep count, but I'm betting the number of customers who come in and wonder what happened to the ram's head will be few and far between. The important thing is that they maintain the Dodge tradition and quality. They may have to explain the racing stripes, though.
