Potty Training Toddlers: Have You Noticed The Signs
Children at the age of 18 months start showing signs that you need to start potty training toddlers in order to make them more self reliant. Following are some of the signs that are seen as a visible indication that your child is ready:
The diaper is dry after the afternoon nap
He/she pulls his/her clothes off
He/she can follow instructions
The first requirement before starting potty training toddlers is to buy a potty. There is an option of either going for one that can be only used for training (which is also cheaper) or a 3 in 1 potty that can be used on the toilet as well once the child has learnt how to use it. One must also buy lots of pairs of pants to get the child accustomed to pulling down and 'doing their business'. But make sure that they are not too expensive, since there are going to be quite a few soiled ones that need to be thrown away.
The final stage in potty training toddlers is to let the child go around running the house in a T-shirt and pants. This will also make it easier for the parent to act accordingly as soon as the signs of going to the toilet are visible.
Coming back to the starting stages, it's best to make the child sit on the potty after every 30-45 minutes, since this will give them a feel of what they have to use on their own in the days to come. If the child gets bored easily, one needs to ensure that sufficient means are available to him to keep him occupied and entertained, like TV, music, books, etc. Remember, it's your duty to ensure that all the effective methods are used to help the child take this important step and grow up faster.
