Power Foods To Help You Gain Energy And Lose Weight

Losing weight can be a real challenge, especially since too many people approach

it with the idea that they need to constantly maintain a strict diet and consume foods that they find distasteful and unpleasant. And then, because we all prefer to like the food we eat regularly, the diet breaks down. We may binge on unhealthy foods or simply give up on weight loss altogether.

But this sad cycle comes often from ignorance. There are so many "power foods" that fuel our bodies' efforts at weight loss and taste delicious at the same time. I cannot describe all of them here, but I can at least put you on the right track.

One of my all-time favorites is dark fruits, particularly berries. Blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries are full of antioxidants and can satisfy your sweet tooth, particularly when added to yogurt or placed on a modest serving of low fat ice cream. Or you can eat them raw, sprinkled with a sugar substitute like sucralose.

For a good source of slow-burning energy and essential amino acids, turn to eggs. Awhile back, eggs got a bad rap because the yolks were known to contain cholesterol. As it turns out, the cholesterol in eggs is known as "good cholesterol," as it combats the effects of the bad cholesterol.

What's more, eggs are a good source of fat and protein, including the amino acids which will help you build muscle, and the more muscle you have, the more calories you effectively burn each day. If you are concerned about the fat content, you can make your breakfast with egg whites.

Low-fat dairy products are tremendous for helping you gain energy and lose weight. Dairy products like milk, cottage cheese, and sour cream are generally high in protein and contain a lot of calcium. Calcium has been shown in recent studies to support increased weight loss when coupled with a healthy diet and an exercise plan.

Asparagus and other greens can assist in the body's water absorption process, which helps to release fatty deposits faster than if that process is less efficient.

Fix yourself a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. Oatmeal is packed with dietary fiber, which means it will stave off hunger for much longer than most other breakfast foods. Plus, dietary fiber helps to regulate your digestive system, which can help you drop a few pounds.

These are just a few foods you need to add to your diet, but if you are still having trouble losing the spare poundage, you may want to consult a doctor about how you can develop a more effective method to be happy with your results.
