Power Hand Tools Safety

Power Hand tools safety is a very important thing to understand whether you work

in carpentry or construction, and regardless of whether you are using these tools on the job or at your home workshop. Understanding the basic safety precautions will protect you and those around you from disturbing accidents.

Here are some basic power hand tools types and safety guidelines.

Circular saws should never be left plugged in when not in use. Also, make sure that the blades are not exposed when you are not cutting anything. If the blades become dull, replace them promptly, as dull blades can make it difficult to cut properly and keep a steady hand.

When replacing blades, or bits on drills, make sure that the hand tools are unplugged. If you accidently hit a function button you won't have to worry about the tool hurting your hands or other parts of your body.

Use clamps to hold the items that you are working on in place. This prevents them from slipping out of place and causing injury when sanding, drilling or sawing.

If you need to carry the tool from on place to another, make sure that it is in the off position and that your fingers are not near the power button.

Make sure any chords to your tools are cleared away from heat sources, sharp objects and flammable fluids. This can prevent fires.

Get rid of broken or damaged tools and parts of tools. Using these busted, malfunctioning pieces increasing the risk of harmful accidents. Don't keep them around.

Make sure that anyone else in the room is a safe distance away from your worktable. Whenever your power hand tools are in operation, you and anyone else around should be wearing safety goggles without any loose fitting clothing or jewelry.
