Ppc Tricks No One Thinks Of
Pay per click ads can be your most important tool for generating traffic to your website
. The trick is to generate both traffic and conversions from your pay per click campaigns. Pay per click ads require some of the most tactical thinking around because you are in direct competition with other sellers. We have gathered some useful strategies that are not the most obvious for you to consider. Not every strategy will work for every online business but many of these tips will help most ecommerce entrepreneurs.
Aim for a medium high placement
You probably already know from experience that you are not likely to be able to compete on the broad keywords because it is just too expensive. For example, the term pet supplies is ruled by Petco, Drs. Foster and Smith and 1 to 800 petmeds with 69 million results.
You also know that long tail words, i.e., phrases that may be unique to your product, will draw a more targeted audience and are less competitive. For example, rhinestone dog collars for small dogs has only 32,000 results and would be used by people who are looking for a very specific type of pet supply. The pay per click ads for that long tail word are not the major retailers either. But you know all that, right?
Here is the interesting thing. Even when you get to that longtail keyword phrase, you do not necessarily have to be in the top spot to do well. If you are in the number 1 spot, you may be attracting people who have not used the right keyword (though that is not too likely with the example here) or people who are just starting their search. Once they have finished checking out the top five advertisers, your number one position may have put you at a disadvantage. The message here is to spend wisely and test at each juncture to see where the best return for money spent can be found.
Be local globally
Well, maybe you do not want to be local everywhere on the globe but you may be overlooking the opportunity to be local where it makes sense and adds value.
People like to buy locally. You are somehow more familiar and more trustworthy when you are in the same state or province or county. Try adding local keywords to your advertising to see if this strategy works for your product in your area. Most search engines will match up your geographic designation with the location of the searcher.
Use your company name as a keyword
Many online sellers are so focused on their products that they forget about their own name. You would not pay much for it because there should not be any competition. (And if there is, you need to send a legal notice to whoever is using your business name demanding that they cease and desist.)
Failing to buy pay per click ads when your organic search results are high
It is wonderful that your organic search results put you in the top few citations on page one of the search results. The thing is, that does not mean you still should not advertise there. If you do not, you are leaving the space open for a competitor to advertise against you. Given that pay per click ads draw more traffic and conversions than organic listings, you can not afford to give your competitors that edge.
