Preparing for the arrival of your baby is exciting
. It is sometimes hard to decide what to get and not go overboard. It is best to make a list of the essentials such as booties, diapers, and a baby sleep bag so that you do not miss out on anything. However, babies grow quickly so getting a few essentials is more practical as your baby will outgrow most of the stuff quite quickly. Make sure to have your bags packed and ready about three weeks before your due date. This way when you go into labour it will be easy for your husband or partner to bring them along to the hospital.
It is easy to put babies into onesies or undershirts. They cover the baby completely and are soft with easy neck openings. This is ideal till around three months as babies necks are soft and need to be supported, therefore the onesies are convenient. Newborns feel the cold initially as they leave the warmth of the womb. That is why they have to be covered up and most parents opt for a cap and socks for their infants. Therefore it is also important to have baby blankets packed. These are very soft in texture and will not scratch or irritate the baby. It is also advisable to have burp clothes handy as sometimes infants throw up excess milk. If the baby is born during winter then extras baby jackets and cardigans will have to be bought. Mittens and booties too will be important, along with a baby beanie. A baby sleep bag is a sure way to ensure your baby sleeps well. It reduces movement and the risk of your baby turning to an undesirable position. It also keeps the baby snug and warm.
Mothers will have to have quite a selection of changes as babies can be quite messy. Having burp clothes and bibs help reduce the mess. Some mothers find it easier to nurse with a nursing pillow. Nursing bras are useful and make nursing hassle free. Breast pads are essential especially during the early days as the milk flow is not necessarily regulated. If you plan on storing break milk in bottles then a breast pump and milk storage containers will be needed. Making a list and having them ready well in advance stops the stress of last minute rushing. This way you will be relaxed and well able to enjoy all the wonders of your newborn.
