Pointers For Successful Business Cards Printing
Print in Bulk
Printing Business Cards in bulk is a great money saver. As is true with all offset printed products, Business Cards become cheaper per card, as the order quantity increases. Aside from saving money, it is also a convenient way to have a business card ready when you need it. When you keep a large stockpile of business cards, there is no need to re-print every time you run out.
Laminate Business Cards
Laminated business cards are much more durable and they also have a premium look and feel. The laminate helps them withstand normal wear and tear much better. The laminate eliminates rub off of ink between cards (especially when kept in your wallet). Laminated Business cards will last as new for much longer, making a larger order quantity a more viable option. We offer a matt or gloss laminate (Celloglaze), on 1 side or 2 sides.
Standard Size Business Cards
Our standard size for business cards is 90 54 mm which is 3.54 x 2.165 in. For the bleed size, an extra 3mm and trim marks must be added to the print ready file. 90 x 54mm is the standard size in Australia, and is used so that the business cards can be carried in wallets.
Business Card Colour
Most business cards today are printed in CMYK colour rather than PMS or spot colour. The difference between PMS and CMYK uses cyan, magenta, yellow, and black to create each colour, while for Spot colours or PMS we literally put that coloured ink into the press.
RGB & CMYK
The colour output from computer monitor and printing press is very much different. Monitors emit Red, Green & Blue light in percentages to achieve each colour. Due to the fundamental differences between RGB ,CMYK and PMS, colours will never look the same across the different spectrums. For this reason, you will never get a true colour value when viewing your proof on you computer monitor.
Full Colour Business Cards Versus Spot Colour Business Cards
When it comes to printing business cards, there are 2 options: full colour and spot colour. Full colour printing is usually for business cards that require a number of colours or photos. This option uses CMYK method. For full colour printing, options are 4/0, 4/1, and 4/4. 4/0 means that the front part of the card will be fully coloured while there will be nothing at the back. 4/1 means that the front card is full coloured but the back part will only use a single colour. 4/4 is full colour both for front and back part of the card.
Spot colour printing is usually for larger business whos branding and style guides require need EXACT colour matching. PMS printing is usually only 1 or 2 colours, but can be up to 3 colours. Spot colour can also produce much more vibrant colours than CMYK in certain applications eg. Bright Oranges and Bright Blues.
Business Card Spot UV Coating
Slightly different to a standard gloss cellogalze, a Spot UV laminate allows for an image or only certain parts of the card to have a gloss coating. This is usually done against a matt cello background to produce a contrast effect.
