Ong Shunmugam is a Singaporean label which has re-evaluated the common perception

Ong Shunmugam have taken archetypal masculine pieces such as the shirt and the trouser and also the bolero. Then reconfigured them so that they retain a sense of a womans physique. This collection also turned stereotypically constraining outfits like the kebaya and the sari on their heads through liberating them with practicality. On the other hand, Shunmugam took the long forgotten samfu, rehashing the traditional Chinese womans pant-suit. One more interesting fact regarding this emerging fashion label is that this collection designs can be customised by fit or in various fabrications and colour ways thus providing you with something that is distinctively you.

Ong Shunmugam was picked up by cult boutique Pixie Market of New York, when it debuted at the 2012 Blueprint tradeshow, earlier this year. An announcement has recently been made that this fashion label is one of only two Singapore labels to be taken to Paris for fashion week by Forward Fashion Now.
