Project Quality Management

Project quality management techniques are very much essential to make sure that a project delivers and the results meet the customer's expectations. Monitoring the project continuously is very important to prevent misinterpretations and errors. The ability of process is said to be quality. "Quality" refers to the conformance to requirement and fitness for use. Maintaining good quality is important for satisfying need of the customers and stakeholders.

Mainly project manager is answerable for quality in a project. Still, it is the duty of each and everybody in the project to make sure that whatever thing they are doing to meet the project quality expectations. Project quality plan helps to determine project quality standard. It also helps to ensure that which activities are important for the project and also unnecessary activities are removed. Through improving and refining processes the project outcome is improved.

The project manager should remember that quality management means "project get completed with no deviation from the project requirement". There are mainly 3 aspects of Project quality management.

Project planning-Prepare quality management plan

Project assurance-Conduct and regulate project audit

Project control-Repair defect and check whether the quality indicator are improving or not.

Good quality comes at cost. The better result of the product directly depend on the efforts are put. But continue investing for good quality is not at all a wise decision because there is no boundary to how good a product can be made. So, investment in quality is determined by understanding the highest level of quality. Highest level of quality is referring to that position where the incremental cost equals the incremental revenue.

There are basically 3 project quality management Processes:

Plan Quality:

Quality planning process identifies the appropriate standards necessary to execute the project efficiently to achieve the desired quality level. Outcome of quality planning is the creation of the quality management plan.

Perform quality assurance:

This determines whether the standards are being met, the work is continuously improving and deficiencies arebeing corrected or not.

Perform quality control:

Monitor and record result executing the quality activities to enhance the performance.
