However if a producer plays one off-note in the melody, it's going to dramatically affect the quality of the music.

I'm a rapper myself and so I wouldn't argue that rap doesn't take some serious skill (especially if you want to be any good). I'm only suggesting that if you find the right music producer, it's going to dramatically significant to the creation of your music. You're going to continuously waste your time and money by putting your energy into creating music if you're not capturing a license to each beat that you use.

You can't just use some famous artist's rap beats because you simply can't sell your music if you do that. You need to get a hold of hip hop beats that you can call your own. You don't want to run into a bunch of legal trouble in this industry... it ruins way too many careers!

Beats can cost huge amounts of money, which is why so many artists have no idea where to turn. I know a guy who sells beats for $5,000 a piece and he's not even famous... not even close. This is because there are some artists who sell their beats for millions to major labels and that means the price range can be quite high!
