Protect Yourself With People Information
Normal people have tons of "things to do" in their regular routines
. Their "to-do-lists" are long and their responsibilities can be overwhelming. It is this pressure to accomplish, coupled with the busyness of the daily grind, which occasionally causes to underplay reasonable suspicions we tend to have about specific people we deal with.
There is the parent tackling on a second or third job to balance the financial situation of their family. Then, there is the career professional juggling the demands of the office and attempting to break through in social settings. Another example is a company employee tasked with the crucial responsibility of evaluating applicants and recommending the best candidates deemed most fit to join their workplace. Also, there is that familiar theme to most of us, that is, handling the cumbersome tasks at home that never seems to end. In order to cope, we usually get someone else to do the housework for us, handle the chores, cook our meals, watch our own kids and manage our homes.
This is our current lives as it is and we must cope as usual. Now along with the challenges of these difficult economic times; we have observed an increase in the instability of employment, growing number of dysfunctional families, rising incidences of social and personal trauma, and the escalating number of scrupulous individuals who have managed to create and develop coping mechanisms as well. Sad but true, incidents of fraud and personal misrepresentation have become more common than ever before. When given access to homes and loved ones, office databases and funds, there is the propensity to commit fraud for economic gain most especially in positions of authority.
Given the present scenarios, it is wise not to silence suspicions you may have about the people you deal with whether in or out of the workplace. In short, when in doubt... examine the case in hand to dismiss or confirm your doubts.
Try to evaluate your own situation. Are you one who trusts easily? Consider the following:
At home, how much leeway does your housekeeper have within your own home? Do they know the location of and have access to keys, documents and other items? Do you notice that at times, the person seem to give details of their backgrounds in anecdotes and yet the pieces do not fit somehow? Are your children exhibiting signs of anxiety when they are around? When you leave your kids to the baby sitter you hired, do you have absolute uncertainty as to the identity, background and competence of that person to make an informed decision in case of an emergency? At the office, are you given varied excuses by newly hired staffs that seem to always be unable to complete required documentary submissions? Are the items stated in the curriculum vitae verified as fact? Are they able to respond to your queries without fidgeting?
Suppose you are leasing an apartment or property that you own, are you certain that your potential lessees have the financial capabilities to fulfill their end of the contract until it ends? What steps have you taken to mitigate that risk on your behalf? There are many other potential situations and most of them are unique. Sometimes, our own intuitions tend to dictate whether the people we deal with are trustworthy or not. The problem is, an inkling or intuition is not a rational basis for decision making. We tend to get our better judgment blurred by emotions at times, and that is when we are most gullible.
Do not get me wrong. I still believe there are good, genuine people out there with authentic identities. There are still plenty of folks out there that are genuinely good-hearted and are true. But how do we really know which ones can be trusted for sure? It is just prudent to protect yourself with facts that may protect you in the long run. The best part is, you can perform all your research in the comfort and confidentiality of your own home or
