If you've gone through all the options and the only one left is breaking up you need to find a proven method. Breaking up with a girlfriend is painful enough on its own without adding the injury of doing it in a manner that will cause more pain to both of you. Most importantly, she's going to beg you for a second chance. She'll offer all kinds of things to sweeten the deal and win you back but these are probably kneejerk reactions that she won't be able to deliver on. No matter how great her intentions are the odds are good she won't be able to follow through for any sustained period of time and you'll be right back in this situation in the future. Don't give in and take her back in the heat of the moment, out of sympathy, guilt, or pity. This is not the time. If you decide later on that you'd like to work things out that's one thing. If you give in now it will make breaking up in the future that much more difficult and the scene at that time even more difficult to make it through. Answer her Questions about the Break Up This is important because it gives you both closure. Be as honest and kind as possible when providing the answers. Some of the may be difficult. Keep them short and be prepared for her to offer to change everything that's bad in a final bid to save the relationship. It might be easier to cut and run but if you answer the questions now you might be able to leave her with some peace of mind rather than a head full of questions. Leave the Door open for a Possible Friendship Later Now might not be the best time for the "let's be friends" speech but you can leave the door open if you handle things with understanding, empathy, and more than a little kindness.
