Puppy House Training - The Best Way To Train Your New Puppy

I will never forget the moment i brought home my 2week old golden retriever puppy

. The feeling of showing it off to my friends and family and adding a new member to the family was awsome.

That was of course until a week later when I started getting used to picking up his "mistakes" and realized my puppy needed. house training

During the first few months of having your puppy, there is nothing more important than house training.

If it doesn't receive proper potty training it will relieve itself wherever and whenever the urge strikes him.

There are a few things you should know if you have never trained a puppy before.

Use a certain area in the garden if you are living in a house, alternatively if you are living in a apartment, you can make a potty box simmilat to a cat litter box.

*Puppy's bladders are weak until they are a few months old, so begin training him as soon as you get home. If you wait, he might mature into a dog that has not been properly house trained. 3 Hours is the longest a puppy can hold its bladder for on average, so remember to take him to "the spot" often.

*You want to give your puppy praise when he uses his spot to relieve himself but dont be to loud or get too excited when you do, or else he might get a fright and stop midway through, and then get stage fright. Instead, wait until he is finished, and stroke his back and gently say "good boy". Dogs are motivated by food, so you can even give him a treat once he is done.

*The most important part is consistency in the approach you take when training your puppy. Take your puppy to the spot in the garden or the potty box whenever it is playing, eating, drinking, or has just woken up.

*You must remember that not all dogs take the same amount of time to be trained so it does vary per dog, so be patiant and consistant in your approach. If you take your puppy to the designated spot often enouph it will become accustome to it, and will know that it is the place to "go" BE patient and consistent and your puppy will one day be a fully grown house trained dog.

*You can avoid or at least reduce any overnight accidents by taking away his food and water after seven or eight o'clock every evening. After a few months, your pup will gain full control of its bladder, and you can then leave his food and water overnight.

Some dogs take a while longer than others to fully train So be patient and persistant, and you will one day have a fully grown house trained dog.
