The concern of this article comes from the fact that sometimes
, you cant tell the air conditioner filter size by looking at the filter itself. At other times, the label on the front of the air handler has fallen off, or was never there. There is also the possibility that you have a filter back grill and there is no label on it either. At this point you will have to take measurements for yourself.
Sometimes the air conditioner filter size is absent from the filter. In such a case the only way to get the real dimensions of the filter is to measure the filter itself. The measurements are taken from the front of your filter and from the side to get your actual size. However, if the filter has the size on it write the size down or take the old filter with you to the store and get a new filter with the correct size.
Another way to get the right filter for your system is to measure the actual width of the front of your air handler filter access and the depth. Then subtract one half inch off the front and depth to get the correct size. On a filter back grill, you will need to measure across the top and side for your correct size.
A smaller size of filter can do any one of the following:
1.A filter can get pulled into the evaporator and block air flow.
2.It can allow dirt to get into your evaporator.
3.It can cause your blower wheel to get dirty causing vibration issues and low air flow.
4.It can result in inefficient cooling.
Getting the right air conditioner filter size means that you are keeping your system as free from dirt and debris as possible.. Only one size will ensure that your air conditioner is effectively cleaning the air and not allowing dirt to reach your evaporator and blower wheel.
