Putting Your Asthma In Check

Having asthma is not fun

Having asthma is not fun. It is actually discouraging most of the time especially for those who have to make a lot of adjustments just to cope with it. This is also very true for those who have to live a life of treatment and medication. Asthma may be a stubborn condition but you can surely put it under control by having a clear perspective on what to do about it.

It is best that you inform those people you spend more time with that you suffer from asthma attacks when exposed to potential triggers such as tobacco smoke and hairs from animals. Be around people who truly care for you and who live healthy lifestyles themselves. By doing so, you minimize the risk for attacks.

Some asthma attacks can last for days so it is best that you always bring your inhaler with you wherever you are because you really don't know when it can occur. A simple cough can be the main reason for a severe asthma attack. This usually happens when someone who has asthma is exposed to chemicals in the air or even a sudden change of weather.

Smoke that comes from tobacco is one major asthma trigger so as much as possible stay away from people who smoke the cigar a lot. Or if you yourself are a smoker and you have asthma, the best thing to do is to find a new habit if you don't want to keep putting yourself at risk.

The best cure is prevention. So before you place just any food on your plate, ask yourself first whether that certain kind of food will not put your health to risk with regard to your asthma. Eating foods that are high in cholesterol are said to be the cause of some asthma attacks for some victims.

If you are having asthma for a very long time now, do not give up just yet. It is true that asthma doesn't go away easily but with proper knowledge and understanding, you will still be able to overcome it and live a normal life. Just make sure you live a healthy lifestyle by exercising more and eating healthy foods, staying away from potential asthma-triggers and taking your medication with you all the time.
