*** Do Not Quit Smoking! Click Here *** It is definitely wise to seek out quit smoking help. It's proven that quitting smoking with outside help increases the chances of success by 10 times. Quitting smoking without help of any sort has a mere 5% success rate. Many smokers will attempt to quit in this manner repeatedly until desperation forces them to seek out additional help. Things like nicotine replacement, drug therapy, smoking cessation support groups and hypnosis definitely have their place in a quit smoking effort. Nicotine replacement therapy does indeed lessen the cravings to smoke. This is because it is in fact replacing, at least in a partial dose, the main addictive substance in a cigarette. The problem with using these products is that many people end up just as dependent on them as they were on smoking. This is especially true of nicotine gum and lozenges. The number of pieces and therefore the amount of the drug in the body can be controlled. Many people end up with similar levels of nicotine in their bodies as when they smoked. This is clearly a lesser health issue than smoking is however. Most doctors feel that nicotine addiction in and of itself is fairly harmless and that it's the other chemicals in cigarette smoke that cause health problems. Still, most people ultimately don't want to be dependent on a drug and would rather be nicotine free. This method works for 25% of smokers. Drug therapy is a fairly recent option as a quit smoking help. These medications work by binding to the receptors in the brain that usually bind with nicotine. They essentially fool the brain into thinking that the nicotine is already there. The problem with these drugs is the side effects. Some people experience insomnia, lack of appetite and increased anxiety on these drugs. A small minority will experience seizures. Again, about 25% of people experience success with this method. Smoking cessation support groups provide emotional support as well as a sense of accountability. Once again 25% of people will quit smoking this way. Usually members of the group are encouraged to get a "smoking buddy". This person is who you call when you are tempted to give in. The last and most successful quit smoking help is hypnosis. Hypnosis has almost a 66% cure rate. It generally takes multiple sessions to accomplish this percentage. Hypnosis has no negative side effects only positive ones. People who quit smoking using hypnosis report fewer and less intense cravings. Withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, hostility, and depression are also reduced.About the Author:
