Real Estate Investing with Undervalued Houses
Undervalued houses are very good real estate investments
. Whether you decide to flip them or keep them for long, they are good investments because purchasing them is adhering to the basic rule of
real estate investing. So what is the basic principle when purchasing undervalued houses and investing in real estate in general?
You make money when you acquire, not when you sell. You might find it unbelievable, but it is true. If you overbought, chances are you won't recover your expenses for that property. But if you bought it for a deep discount, meaning you bought it as an undervalued property, you have a chance to make money from it. And in today's economic conditions, these discounted houses are everywhere.
Investing in real estate today is therefore profitable. But why are they deeply discounted?
Much of this has to do with the fact that people have been feeling the effect of the economic slump. Jobs are scarce, pays are low, and they just don't seem to have enough money to live a more comfortable life. Their solution? End their suffering by selling their home fast. But when one chooses to sell a property, they have to make a sacrifice. They have to make a decision. They can either wait for a retail buyer for months and continue suffering in the process or they can sell it today at a wholesale price and end their suffering. What do you think would be their decision?
It is always hard to let go of one's home. A home is after all, an American Dream. That dream keeps real estate investing alive. But given the present circumstances, people are being more and more practical. They need to adapt to current economic conditions. They have suffered so much in their effort to keep the house. But times come when they have to choose. This is where investing in real estate comes in.
Real estate investing today is a wise idea because people are motivated to sell, despite the offers on their homes being lower that they want. Is it taking advantage of people's desperate situation. You could argue on that side. But if people want to sell their home and you bought it, would that not be helping them instead? You can't buy it high because you're not a retail buyer. If they don't like to sell it at a wholesale price, they have another option, which is to wait for a retail buyer.
