In regards to a legit survey site a legit site will allow you to specify how you will be notified about survey opportunities. For example some sites can email you notifications or you can just log into your account. If you choose email you will know the site is legit if they allow you to specify an amount that you can be emailed every day. If your participating with a fake survey site they will spam the you know what out of your email box. so look out for that.
