It is also a well known fact that maximizing the fuel efficiency is possible if the load of the plane is reduced. This load reduction is possible in many ways. Right from the stage of airplane manufacturing, there can be alternatives to develop the planes from lightweight but equally robust materials which can help in increasing the efficiency of fuel consumption of airplane. The use of carbon composites in the manufacture of aircraft body has been a major step in the direction of replacing the metal based body of aircraft and using these lightweight but equally strong materials for making the body.

The interior design and the use of material in internal fitments of the aircraft is another major factor which influences the load of the aircraft. Here also the man-made composites can be of help rather than using the metallic fitments. The seats, overhead cabins and other such fittings can be of plastic composites which are equally strong. Similarly, all the paraphernalia which is loaded into the aircraft before take-off and adds to the moveable weight of the aircraft can be made with alternative materials which are light in weight. So, the trolleys and the trays, the carpets, the LCD TVs and other entertainment systems and a number of other such removable materials also increase the load factor of the aircraft during the flight and this adds to the increase in fuel consumption.

The measures to reduce the weight of aircraft are continuously being researched. Efforts are being made to make changes to the inputs used in the manufacturing of the aircraft to make these as light weight as possible. At the same time, the carrier companies are always looking at reducing the load of aircraft so that the efficiency of fuel consumption can be increased. All these measures pave the way for the cheap flight booking by the passengers since their cumulative impact at the end is on the pricing of the air tickets.
