The Basilica of Born Jesus is the most popular one. It is covered with marble and decorated with paintings and stones illustrating the life of St. Francis Xavier, who was considered a legend as his body was found intact from the day he died to the day he was buried.
Se Cathedral church is one of the largest churches in Asia. Situated in old Goa, it is 10kms from the capital Panaji. It is also known as Bell of Inquisition. This church is dedicated to St. Catherine.
The Church of St. Francis of Assisi is also a major religious place in Goa. It is 9 km away from Panaji. Other than that there are St Jerome's church build on the site of Hindu Temple and church of Mary Immaculate Conception which are all very famous.
Temples also forms a major segment of religious places in Goa. Most of the temples are close to Ponda and Margao, the Shiva temple of Shri Mangesh is the famous temple of Goa. It is on the top of a small hill a little away from Mahalsa which is a Vishnu temple. About 5 km away there are Shri Ramnath and Shri Mahalakshmi and Shri Shantadurga temple.
