Renewable Energy In Different Countries

Much has been said about the worlds dependence on oil

, natural gas and coal for energy. Possible energy crisis due to shortage spiked with environmental concerns have stirred up world leaders in searching for the most feasible back-up plan to keep the worldwide energy supply stable for the coming years.

Technology for known renewable energy sources like sunlight, wind and geothermal heat have received its criticisms in the past but according to recent reports, various nations may have realized that maximizing its potentials will only change things for the better.

Increasing investments

According to businessgreen.com, the solar energy industry in the US is enjoying a great start this year as part of the priorities in the countrys stimulus package. Growth in the industry for the past two years not only established a great source of renewable energy for the US but also provided thousands of jobs. Developments in the US Geothermal Energy Association and the American Wind Energy Association were also showing positive results.

Meanwhile, China and Southeast Asian countries are expected to heed the call of the World Bank to invest more in renewable energy to minimize greenhouse gas emissions for the coming years.

In a report by Associated Press (AP), the World Bank urges these countries to increase their total budget of $100 billion a year in developing clean energy. China was the biggest investor for renewable energy sources last year with a total of $34.6 billion according to Pew Charitable Trusts.

Partnerships for a cause

Renewable energy is also being discussed in the other parts of the world. Representatives from the different European and African countries are scheduled to meet on April 2010 through the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) and the Global Forum on Sustainable Energy. The gathering aims to address the developments needed in sustainable energy, its role in saving the environment and how to make the technology widely available for various countries especially in the African nation.

As for the countries in Latin American, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will be supporting Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela and Mexico by providing incentives for its plans to reduce dependence on fuel. In a report by UPI.com, the IDB will be providing major cash boost for the coming years to the Latin American countries as they develop hydrocarbon resources for power.
